April 12 - 16, 2010

On Monday, the class learned how the aperture, shutter, and shutter speed works in a manual, older camera. The class was given cameras and got to see how they worked ourselves. After that, I worked on creating an ad for the Market Mall Pharmacy to be featured in the yearbook.
On Tuesday, the class dicussed futhur on the use of aperture, shutter, and shutter speed, and related it to our Top 10 Tip of the Week, which is "Lock in the focus." After that, I organized my ads page for the yearbook, and placing yearbook photos to the page to give it more appeal so more will read the ads when looking at the photos.
On Wednesday, I was absent because I attended a school field trip at White Pines, about careers in certain businesses.
On Thursday, the class was assignned a task to create a spread of their own photos using the program PhotoEase from Friesens Tools, a part of InDesign CS2. It automatically changes photos to CMYK and 300 dpi, and there are templates you can you for the spread. I chose a template, and placed my photos in them and that is what I worked on for the rest of the class.
On Friday, I took photos for the Top 10 Tip of the Week, which can be seen in the seperate blog post, for the rest of the class I worked on the PhotoEase assignment.

April 6 - 9, 2010

On Tuesday, I was working on the sports title page for the yearbook. I got all the pictures I wanted resized and changed the colour to CMYK, and cropped and adjusted to the way I liked them. I got all the photos in and moved them around the page to the way I liked them. It was almost finished by the end of class.
On Wednesday, I finished the sports title page for the yearbook, and I like it alot. See the picture? Also, I took photos for the Top 10 Tip of the Week, which was "Move it from the middle." You can see the pictures in the Top 10 Tips post.
On Thursday, I worked independently on an assignment from another class because on that day, I had finished all work needed to be done for the week, so I got a nice class to relax pretty much.
On Friday, I was assigned to create the ads page for the yearbook. I took the scanned business card ads that the folder had so far, and put them onto a yearbook template. I organized them, but I cannot finish the spread until I take some candid photos for the page, and waiting for the other adds to come in.

March 29 - April 1, 2010

On Monday, the class recieved a handout on how to use a camera properly, and helpful tips on taking photos and handling the camera. That day, I also worked on my spread for the Duke of Edinburgh Club. I have it almost finished, I just need a background, and I have to begin the next page about the club Free the Children.
On Tuesday, I took photos for the Top 10 Tip of the Week, which was "Move in close." You can see in the Top 10 Tips Photos for the picture I took this week. After that, I continued to work on more of the spread.
On Wednesday, the class read through some of the handout recieved on Monday, and learned about the use of depth of field. Since I could no longer do more on my spread till I am able to take photos for the Free the Children group, I was assigned to start the title page for the Sports section of the yearbook, and possibly the portrait title page. I began to think of ideas for those on that day.
On Thursday, the class read through more of Monday's handout, and we discussed tips on how to use a camera properly. We also critiqued photos taken by the class on Earth Hour, to see how the class used the natural light that was in the school. After that, I continued to plan the some of the title pages for the yearbook.
