May 24 - 28, 2010

On Monday, there was no school because it was Victoria Day, meaning it was a holiday! However, I had my French IB Exam that day, so I came in for a couple hours to write that!
On Tuesday, I was absent for this class because I had the IB Group 4 Project conducting day out at Camp Korah! A fun day filled with bugs and sun!
On Wednesday, I did some running around the school getting information for one of the groups spread. I got information for the Book Club body copy, Duke of Ed body copy, as well as interviewing friend and creator of the Free the Children group at Korah, Lesia Kinach.
On Thursday, I wrote up the interview assignment for the class, listening to the mp3 file and copying down what Lesia said. I typed it onto WordPerfect and handed it in that day.
On Friday, I worked on the group spread of Duke of Ed, Free the Children and the Book Club. I decided to place an add in the area of the Book Club, and I'm almost finished its body copy. I added some photos from the Free the Children bake sale, and finished the page on Duke of Ed! Almost finished the entire spread! Above is a picture that includes patterns in the photo, as requested to be posted by Mr. Wrigley.

May 17 - 21, 2010

On Monday, the class was assigned to work on their second spread, theme questions, the interview assignment, and work on ad sales. I was working on the theme assignment and a spread I was working on, and I added to the book club to my spread. So now the groups that I am using on the spread is Duke of Ed, Free the Children, and the Book Club.
On Tuesday, the class continued on the weeks assignment. I was continuing with the theme assignment, stuck to think of what kind of design the cover and the title page would look like. Hopefully an ideas comes soon!
On Wednesday, I updated my blog. I created posts for all the weeks I missed from the blog site not working. I also did more on my second spread.
On Thursday, I worked on my spread and my theme assignment further, still looking for creative ideas for the title page and cover!
On Friday, I was absent that day.

May 3 - 7, 2010

On Monday, the class was given a package on journalism, including how to conduct interviews and write body copies for the yearbook. There were questions that were attached to the package, and that was to be due for the end of the week. I worked on that throughout the class.
On Tuesday, I continued to work on the journalism questions that were assigned the previous day. I also was assigned to create the portraits title page for the yearbook! So after I was finished the questions I began looking for pictures I could use for the title page.
On Wednesday, I began working further on the portraits title page. I found lots of pictures. I edited them and placed them randomly on the spread and made a final desicion on the size of the pictures.
On Thursday, I organized the spread and placed all the pictures where I wanted them and thought of ways to make the title page look appealing. I got mostly all of that done that day, I just needed a background.
On Friday, I got all the photos on the title page organized, and I picked a background for the page. The only adjustment that I needed was to take a specific photo of a few friends that I could use for the page. It will be finished next week!

Edit: Here is the photo of the portraits title page above!

April 26 - 29, 2010

On Monday, the class worked on our spreads and took pictures. It was still difficult with the computer system, so for the time being I had to save my work to my desktop.
On Tuesday, the cleaned out our I-drives, and saved everything as a back up to USB sticks to fix the computer problems. Suprisingly, they began working once most of my work was taken off! Thank God! haha
On Wednesday, the class learned how to take pictures and turn them into colouring book-type pictures, meaning the colour would be taken out, and the photo would look like it was drawn. I created one of Brianna Harris and I think it looks awesome! Take a look up top!
On Thursday, I worked on my blog and putting my Top 10 photos onto the blog, and helped out around the class.
On Friday, we had a PD DAY! :) Nice long weekend!

May 10 - 14, 2010

On Monday, there was a supply teacher in the class. The class was given a package on themes for yearbooks. It had questions that had to be answered, and also to a sheet for us to use so we could design our own theme for the next years yearbook. The theme I thought of was, "We'll Always Be Together." I thought this was a good theme because it related to the future grade nines and how they will make long-lasting friendships when they begin high school, the friendship that will last longer than high school for the years graduates, and it also related to the musical that Korah will be hosting next year, Grease. It is one of the lyrics of one of the main songs in the musical. Overall, I thought this was an upbeat theme for a yearbook. All I needed after that was a design for a cover, the title page, and the dividers.
On Tuesday,I continued on working on the theme questions from the package, and thinking of futhur ideas for the theme I was thinking about. I also was helping others with spreads and their computers.
On Wednesday, I was in class for a half hour because I was going to a field trip at Algoma University for the rest of the day. For that half an hour of class I was thinking of ideas for the cover, title page, and dividers to go with the theme I was thinking of for next years yearbook. I then had to leave and went on my field trip.
On Thursday, I handed in my theme questions and I continued to think of graphic ideas for my theme that I created. I thought of using our school colours, incorporating certain graphics, and using certain phrases for the cover, but I couldn't think of anything that really suited the theme. I hope I think of something soon.
On Friday, I wrote my weekly blog post, and continued on working on my theme I wanted to hand in and possibly use for the yearbook.

April 19 - 23, 2010

Throughout the week, many of the days were uneventful due to the computer system problems that were occuring during this time. The memory was full on every computer in the class, so the only way that it we could save our work and photos were to save them on the desktop of the computer, or save and backup the work to a USB stick. However, I went out this week for some photos with classmates and most of the pictures turned out really great! I even used some for the Top 10 Tips post! Also, the photo ease templates were due at this time.
